There is an issue in Minecraft where your wolf may stay behind and never teleport to you again. It would be interesting if there was a "whistle" in the game, which immediately calls your pets to you. This way, you would never lose your wolf and your cats in an unfamiliar place again. You could take advantage of those excluded copper horns to take on this function

The new changes allowing customizability are welcome, but it should be enchantable with armor enchants. Wolf AI also needs an upgrade to make them more viable.

I wish they changed the wolf AI a little. I went to the trial chambers with a friend of mine, and our wolves attacked each other more than they helped in PVP, and they never stopped attacking each other, until they both died

It would be interesting to have some way for the player to not be able to kill his wolf during PVP and PVE. Many times, I end up accidentally hitting my own wolf, increasing the chance of it dying. It could happen like with Allay, where I couldn't attack my own wolf while it attacks something or someone

It would be interesting if when you sit your wolf down, it doesn't attack again when it gets up again. It's horrible when I hit a friend of mine, and my wolf keeps attacking him, until one of them dies

I loved the fact that you added the possibility of dyeing the wolf's armor. Regarding the painting issue, I think it would be interesting if it occurred on the entire armor, changing the main color. The color applied could be very soft, keeping the edges the color of the armadillo's shell, similar to leather armor.

It would be interesting if the wolf armor could be enchanted with the things that every armor piece can be enchanted with, like soul speed or thorns.

The system of the wolf not taking damage until the armor breaks is very creative. Can you keep this please?

If you're not going to color the entire armor when it's dyed, some details in the colored area would be interesting.

It’s not visually clear enough when wolf armor takes damage. Maybe there could be lots of holes in the wolf armor when it takes damage.

It would be interesting if the lava damage hit the armored wolf much less. Due to errors in the AI, your wolf may throw itself into a pit of lava when facing a mob in the nether, and thus die. As a way to prevent this, lava, in particular, could do much less damage

The wolf armor could have armor trims and enchantments.

It would be interesting if other players couldn't take your wolf's armor off. Enemies could use this to easily disarm the pet and kill it faster

I found the dyes on the armor to be a little weak, there is no strong variation in textures if they could be improved

maybe there should be a dog armor trim or let armor trims be on dog armor

It's good to see that it will be possible to dye wolf armor, the problem is that it doesn't look neat. I feel like there are rugs piled on top of the wolf's armor, instead of it being painted.

I think it would be really cool if the wolf's armor was painted entirely, always in a soft tone, with the edges still having the color of the armor. It would be like leather armor, where even if you paint it, there are still leather-colored areas left over.

I would like to see a message in chat when my wolf’s armor breaks! Thanks!

The new wolf variants are great, we have hyenas in Minecraft! Biomes feel more unique now. I hope some of them can be more like huskies/retrievers, deviating slightly more from normal-wolf look.

Even though I voted the unique-looking crab as the reach accessory is useful for combat and exploration, I have NO regrets that armadillo wins now. Some of the most highly-requested wolf features are here because of armadillo, these are decades-old suggestions. Plus, the wolf armor is at least usable now, repairs just need to be easier & more convenient so bringing wolves is NOT detrimental. Armadillo definitely feels like the right choice, and mob votes should feel this way, instead of disappointing squid reskins.

1.21 is looking good as it caters to combat players, explorers, redstoners, pet lovers, builders etc. Many Youtubers enjoy having these pet features in Minecraft, as well as chambers adding gameplay content. I think the few flaws left is the chambers; Breeze charges are items you need tons of, for parkour content & jumping mountains etc, but atm it needs to be farmed slowly, making it very useless. It needs to be craftable into a reusable weapon instead, it'll really satisfy combat and exploration players! Often, mojang additions are unfortunately made less fun/viable for the sake of simplicity/consistency, such as copper bulb ticks which could revolutionize redstone, but it's now gone. Content should ideally generate some hype to entice new & old players to come back.

It feels strange to essentially be “feeding” your wolf scute to keep it alive as long as it has armor on. I think it makes more sense to use food to top up on health when out adventuring and requiring an anvil to fix the damaged armor. That would mean the wolf has to take some damage, even if it’s just a very small amount. If the wolf’s health would run out before it’s armor would break, food would still be useful and the wolf armor would feel more congruent with player armor.

Too strong in pvp, killing one takes a lot of time away from fighting your opponent who can attack you for free at that point, and you can have as many wolves as you want, really.

The new changes are well considered and add lots of value for players who travel with wolf companions! The amount of protection (plus the previous increase to wolf HP) feels effective and well-balanced, and I wouldn't want the protection to be any higher.

Communicating the armour's durability is very effective, by emitting particles when taking significant damage and through visual texture changes. However, the inconsistent durability threshold for each damage stage is less intuitive (the texture changes after the first 4 durability points, then the next 16, then the next 24, then breaking after the last 20). I like that the pristine state displays even if the durability is not quite full - this is convenient - but after that, a more even split (4, then 20, 20 and 20) would be more intuitive. Alternatively, there could be one less state, with the final change later on (such as changing at 4, then 30 (or 40), and breaking after 30 (or 20) more) to make it more obvious when the armour needs urgent repair.

Some of the player concerns about improving wolf survivability are not related to their personal defense, though - wolves can still put themselves in lethal danger (usually to natural hazards like lava or long falls) due to issues with their pathfinding algorithms, so I hope to see pet pathfinding improvements in future :)

Excellent update! Wolf armor is finally useful against creepers, lava, fall damage etc. It's great that we can now dye it, I'm glad mojang listens to the community.

Having said that, the low durability heal of each scute is bad, constantly repairing the armor makes adventure with wolves annoying. One scute needs to heal at least half durability. Better yet, when durability is completely gone, it should still be usable as a "broken wolf armor", giving some defense for the wolves instead, just like before. This way, players don't have to always carry stacks of scutes. Ideally it needs a regen enchant.

On multiplayer, wolves should reset their attack AI via sitting, because if you accidentally hit a friend, the wolf will permanently target them until it dies. For PvP, wolf armor is balanced & not OP, as you can bypass them with thorns, harming pots, shears.

I also love the Bogged as it makes swamps & some caves unique! The SE can be slimier & different from skeletons. I like it can be sheared, but obscure mechanics need achievements to hint at players (Also, husks should really drop renewable sands). Future hostile mobs should not be reskins, we need uniques like fishes, arthropods.

The lesser Bogged HP/firerate makes it manageable on easy/normal mode, which is nice for casual players, but I hope the poison's more challenging on hard mode.

I like how hardcore's coming to bedrock! I hope I can convert my current world to hardcore & I wish multiplayer hardcore's possible.

I made a separate suggestion for wolf armor, but I'll put it here too so it can get more exposure. My suggestion is for the armor to be modified to also work with trusting foxes. In the bedrock edition, a bug allowing player armor to be equiped onto foxes was removed, but the ability to equip foxes with wolf armor would be a great replacement for the removed feature. This could potentially make foxes more viable to use as currently there is little to no functional incentive to get trusting foxes.
Here is the link to my original suggestion:

I think it's a bit better than before, though scutes need to repair more than 8 points of wolf armor, and we should be able to enchant them with animal armor specific enchants, to add more wolf damage or regeneration.

This improvement will make wolves survive better. But it's not quite an excellent update, as I expect players will find the scute repair tedious and they'll end up not bringing wolves. Maybe late-game bastion loot can upgrade it further to self repair. There's a surprising amount of new players who don't even know how to tame wolves and cats, and it needs an advancement with a clear picture of wolf + bone = taming. Pets are one of those features that makes players attached to their minecraft worlds, and there must be more in the future for other dimensions. Dragons are especially popular and they fit on end dimension, and I agree it can be interesting and fun if there's both pet armor and mount armor.

After testing the latest updates more, I love the wolf pack-size variety, and the savanna types that spawn 4-8 packs can really make minecraft worlds feel alive! Minecraft can be very lonely sometimes and without mobs to interact to, it will get boring. (Though sometimes you actually want the lonely scary vibe in certain areas, which is why backrooms mods in MC are so popular)

Still, traveling companions add so much incentive to play minecraft. It definitely would be nice if we can upgrade our companions, because back then the most convenient and effective way to use wolves was to not heal them and keep breeding. They felt like disposable soldiers. But with wolf armor enchants using valuable books, each wolf will feel more valuable and it'll encourage players to build a connection with them.

This is looking to be a decent update. I can imagine the trailer for 1.21, Steve and Alex exploring trial chambers with their wolf companions, then fighting the big bad of the dungeons, it's gonna be exciting like those "bees fight" fanmade MC animations! I don't mind if this update takes a while longer, I just hope it's truly fleshed out to something amazing.

As a side suggestion, it may be better to put all 1.21 topics into the "minecraft update 1.21" category, instead of separating topics to "mobs" category like this.

I like the 1.20 armored paws and 1.21 update so much. But remember, players can always not update if they prefer simpler minecraft. The options are easy to do in java, though bedrock could use that option too.

I feel some players prefer old minecraft only because of nostalgia. New modern gamers who buy minecraft recently will often find old-version minecraft boring. Nostalgia players can simply stick to their old version, many of us wanted newer minecraft that's more fun with many new features. The potato april fools is especially good, it's unironically one of the best updates ever, and people on twitter and youtube wondered why it's so much more fun than the actual updates.
