Updated Friends Tab Experience in Bedrock Preview

The latest Bedrock Preview (1.20.60.21) introduces a redesigned Friends Tab experience. Some features are not supported yet, but we wanted to give you an early look at what we’re building.

The online and offline friends are displayed as a list
Play will be able to join a friend on his world on this tab.


Here's a quick reminder of exactly what's changed: 

  • Added the first iteration of the new Friends drawer feature (Online/offline friends as a list, Add friends button renamed Search for players, you have no friends empty state and improved text to speech)

We are also working on improving the adding friends experience.
We’re still working on it but we’d love to hear your thoughts on this new design! Let us know in the comments — what do you think?

    I think this menu is great but when you search up a player and when you click on a player's profile it goes to the old classic design. Wouldn't it make more sense to match it instead? can you please update that. It's Really does make more sense to have it match the new friend's tab. Otherwise this menu is great and amazing. I love this design best Minecraft design ever.

    There should be a Sort option to either Sort by A-Z, Z-A or Recently Added friends.

    Can you fix this on bedrock ----> 1- when We invite friends some times it online but it not showing he/she's online can you fix that pls?
    2- And When we try to join from friends, Realm and when we joined sometimes it say can not connected to world/Realm but Every thing is Working good (version is same, wifi is good) Can you fix this too?

    The new friends drawer is so much cleaner and easier to use. I really really love it and it was impressive! I think it still needs to become a bit better so here's my suggestions:

    • Update the search friends UI and the player's profile UI, its still using the old design for now
    • Make the drawer a little bit bigger cuz my friend has a very long gamertag or add an ability to resize it
    • Able to sort friends list by A-Z ; Z-A or recently added friends
    • Able to join friends when they're playing in a featured server

    In pocket edition and bedrock edition we have only right hand to play but give left hand also

           I think friend would have more fun on joined world or servers. If the game mechanic file [swimming can be activated in shallow water] was added into the game.

    I think that the new UI is amazing, however it lacks consistency which is a major design flaw. For example, when you look at friends, it switches to the old UI. If the developers at Minecraft see this, I will be very happy if you make this small change.
