An idea to return a very old tradition.

I want to start this off by reminding everyone that horses were originally a modification to the game, but were ported officially by the mod creator after being invited to do so.

 

Great, now that I've got that out of the way, here's my suggestion - Minecraft as a whole should start doing this again. There are multiple amazing modifications that would fit perfectly into minecraft as it is. Naturalist, Ecologics, and other such mods that just add biomes, creatures, et cetera. It's not *new* per se, but it would be refreshing to see the development team take more modders into consideration. I think I'd be more excited for an official mod port than, say, a couple new mobs. I'd love to see this happen, and I feel like others would appreciate it as well.

  How about Colored Water blocks and the Create Mod and rusted iron?

  Maybe Quicksand, Deeper and Darker, and The Bumblezone should be added too?
